For years i've been applying weaves to females that would fall into the above category, in fact they are my main client. Time to clear up some of those myths about hair extensions.
MYTH'S
Myth 1: Hair extensions are bad for your hair.Truth: Professionally applied hair extensions should do no damage at all. The user then has to take care of them which requires the same (if not more) care than their basic hair depending on the type of extension. Some women have problem hair either with or without extensions, and these women should get a professional opinion before having extensions put in. When applied well and maintained well, many women use extensions and find that their hair is as healthy as ever. In fact, wearing extensions can be a great way to grow hair out to a certain length.
Myth 2: Extensions limit your style and your lifestyle.Truth: Extensions made of indian human hair can be treated like normal hair. You can swim, go into saunas and steam rooms, and wear all of your favourite styles. As long as you use the right combs, brushes, styling products and PATIENCE! Be careful to avoid the track/bonds themselves when styling.Remy hair has few limitations if cared for. Note however that, just like with YOUR HAIR, the more the exposure to chlorine and salt water, the more potential damage to the hair (and your hair!).
NOTE: If you are going to expose your extensions to salt/chlorinated water - pre condition your hair with a Deep Conditioner. As you hop out of that water, hit up your hair with some more conditioner poolside or on the sand and WASH as soon as possible (gently), completing the process with deep conditioning (maybe even a CD hot oil treatment like TUI OIL!).
NOTE: Remember, the longer the extensions, the more "weight" and "tension" on your natural hair. If you are going very long, consider trying clip in extensions OR have your extensions professionally applied, using VERY GOOD quality INDIAN REMY hair to avoid tangles which can lead to increased tension on the hair shaft and lead to breakage.
Myth 3: People will know you are wearing extensions.Truth: Well applied extensions will
look completely natural from every angle. A well trained and experienced hair stylist can cut wefts are ultra thin and are virtually undetectable when applied
and style both your hair and your extensions for a seamless, nearly undetectable look - especially with ENV hand wefted extensions from Hair It Is. Guess what though...no matter how trained the stylist, if you use poor quality hair you will get a poor quality result.
Myth 4: Extensions are uncomfortable or even painful.
Truth: Most women experience no discomfort or pain all, either while the extensions are being applied or while wearing them. Nobody likes pain, so hair extensions simply would not be as popular as they are if they were a recipe for months of annoyance and discomfort. There are a few exceptions—some women have unusually sensitive skin—but the great majority of people will have no negative sensations whatsoever. IF A TRACK HURTS tell your stylist...tight just aint right when it comes to extensions!
Myth 5: Hair needs a break between extensions.Truth: Some believe this is NOT TRUE. At ELEGANT EXTENSIONS It Is, we STRONGLY recommend a break from extensions. While in between extensions, consider a pony tail. However, perfectlocks.com says this is not needed: Professionally applied and removed extensions can be worn continuously with no damage. In fact, many women like to have extensions removed and replaced at the same appointment. Similarly, there is no ‘expiration date’ on wearing extensions. If your hair looks great and is healthy, you can keep enjoying the same hair-do as long as it works for you.
